There are a lot of great things about going to New York for the New York Stationery Show each May. First, I get to meet all of the people that answer all of my questions when I call them. One of my favorites is meeting Prentiss Douthit of Prentiss Douthit. All of us at Pulp Papery and even a few customers have a secret crush on Prentiss. His design aesthetic and eye for detail is amazing. More importantly, I can't tell you how charming everyone in his company is. After talking with Prentiss, his wife and their sales team, I wanted to buy out his entire booth and then return home with them to Alabama and drink sweet tea.
Second, there are always workshops and seminars regarding the stationery industry and trends. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet with other business owners and swap war stories as well as meet with industry leaders. This year, we got to meet Darcy Miller of Martha Stewart Living fame! I don't know how they are going to top that next year.
Third, is finding new product. It is always so inspiring to me to be around such a great bunch of talented, dedicated and wonderfully unique folks. A few of those folks were the gals at Ecosystem. What drew me into their booth were their bright and vibrant journals and planners. With colors like Lagoon, Watermelon and Clementine their displays looked like candy. Needless to say, I was hooked. What kept me in their booth was their story. Ecosystem journals, planners and notebooks are used with only 100% post-consumer recycled paper and are made in the United States. More than that, they also go the extra step to ask for confirmation from their suppliers that the paper used in their production is 100% post-consumer recycled fiber. If that isn't enough, each journal and planner has a unique number printed on the back pocket that you can register online to make a lost book more easily found.
These very cool and very earth-friendly products come in a variety of styles and shapes. From author to artist to architect, Ecosystem has the write journal for you.*
*Author's note: Okay, okay. I can hear your groans. I am sorry for the pun...but I just couldn't help it! Besides, you knew it was coming when you read the title of my blog entry.
