DIY: Paper Banner

I have made quite a few banners for events over the years and thought you may be interested in knowing how to make your own! I made one for our shop so I could document the steps but you could easily make one that reads, "Happy Birthday," "Congratulations," "Welcome Baby," etc.

What you will need:
  • 5x5" Card Stock
  • 5.5 x 5.5" Card Stock
  • Adhesive Transfer Tape/Craft Tape
  • Black Glass Glitter
  • Glue
  • 1/4" Hole Punch
  • 1/4" Ribbon - 2-3 Yards
  1. Print each letter of your sign (i.e. "Happy Birthday") onto the 5x5 card stock using black ink. (Using capital letters of a non-script font will make the banner easy to read).
  2. Using the transfer tape, adhere the 5x5 printed pieces of card stock onto the 5.5 x 5.5 pieces of cardstock, creating a 1/4 inch border.
  3. Trace over each letter with glue making sure to smooth out any large dots of glue.
  4. Sprinkle glass glitter onto each letter, shaking excess off. Let each pieces of cardstock dry thoroughly.
  5. Once glue is dry, using the hole punch, punch holes in the top two corners of the card stock. Be sure to punch the hole through both pieces of stock.
  6. String each letter onto the ribbon, leaving room at each end to easily hang the banner.
You can print the letters of your banner in any color, simply use glass glitter in a similar color. It is easy to make your banner complement the color scheme of your event.
